In the elevator earlier, I went up with three persons—two men and one lady—from the other office and overheard their lively conversation.
Man 1: "Oo, online ra ang renewal sa driver’s license." (Yes, exam for driver’s license renewal is now online)
Lady: "Lisod-lisod pud ang exam noh?" (The exam’s also a bit challenging, right?)
Man 2: "Lisod lagi. Exam-exam unya kung naa na diay ta sa kalsada, huna-hunaon pa diay na'to ng mga sign? Mahinumduman pa diay na'to unsay pasabot ana?" (I agree. We take these exams but once we’re on the road, do we really have to think about these signs? Can we even recall what these signs mean?)
Me, realizing I had spoken my mind out loud a second too late: "Dapat lang!"
The elevator doors slid open, and I stepped out from a space crowded with stupid people as early as 7:45AM.
This, my friends, is why road accidents are increasing each year in this country. This, my friends, is basically a result of people paying agencies to get their licenses without having to take the written and practical exams.
